Под эгидой NASA и еще ряда организаций есть в штатах такой интересный проект - "Nighttime Lights of the World". Он не только публикует картинки ночной земли из Космоса. Он с помощью метеоспутников фиксирует освещенность ночной части Земли в динамике и, сопоставляя, выкладывает карты изменения освещенности.Наблюдения ведутся с 1993 года, на сайте выложены данные по 2003 год включительно.
То, что Вы видите ниже - карта ДИНАМИКИ освещенности, где красным цветом обозначены вновь появившиеся в этот период огни. С розового по серый - неизменные в этот период огни различной интенсивности - от высокой до низкой. Светло- и темно- голубым цветами обозначен свет, интенсивность которого снижалась. Наконец, синим цветом обозначен свет, который прекратил свое существование. Потухший свет.

Based on the facts, points and authorities set forth herein, I'm not convinced that this case is worth pursuing for the benefits of the family of late NN, nor I'm persuaded by your explanations, which in many parts is neither supported by the credible authority, nor legally correct. Most importantly, your representation may harm your client who is a recipients of the SSI. Thus, until I'm fully convinced that this case is worth pursuing, albeit for the sole benefit of you - the lawyers, I'm not going forward with it.

When Grandma Goes To Court
Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer.
In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked:
- 'Mrs. Jones, do you know me?'
She responded:
- 'Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you'll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.'
The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked:
- 'Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?'
She again replied:
- 'Why yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him.'
The defense attorney nearly died.
The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said:
- 'If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair.'

Paterson, New Jersey, Considers Curfews for Adults
PATERSON, N.J. — Curfews might not be just for kids anymore in one northern New Jersey city.
Seeking to curb violence after a spate of deadly summer shootings, Paterson officials are considering an unusual ordinance that would prevent people of all ages from gathering outside in public late at night.
The measure could be the nation’s first citywide, non-emergency curfew to include adults, several experts said.
“We’re trying to think outside the box,” said Mayor Jose Torres. “This was triggered predominantly by fear among city residents over the shootings that have been occurring this summer.”
