Instead of: They designed the cooking class for housewives.
Consider: They designed the cooking class for homemakers.

Instead of: Have you seen the stewardess?
Consider: Have you seen the flight attendant?
Or consider: Have you seen the steward?

Instead of: policeman.
Consider: police officer.
